The Need
The need for mental health and education professionals knowledgeable of Spanish and Hispanic cultures is large and is not being met with existing personnel. Thus, professional preparation programs that increase the number of suitably prepared mental health and education professionals with this knowledge are needed. As Spanish is considered the second-most widely spoken language in the world, the demand for individuals knowledgeable and fluent in Spanish is growing. Indeed, being able to communicate your thoughts, preferences, and needs to others in Spanish is a generalizable skill set in today’s global and competitive market.
